Day 5 and Day 6 Post Laser Skin Resurfacing

I’m still peeling and look like a crazy red-faced MONSTER.  I’m taking photos every day, but will wait to post them until I am fully healed.  Not much of a difference day-to-day.

day 6 post laser skin resurfacing

The swelling mostly subsided by day 6, but the peeling is impossible to conceal. I can’t capture it on film and the photo makes it look manageable. It’s not. It’s intense. Very intense.

Yesterday was my 32nd birthday, and I fully expected to be ready to rock and roll; instead, I spent a solid hour trying to make myself presentable… and still had to wear a hat. Liquid foundation magnified the peeling. Aveda Dual Finish Mineral Foundation looked OK.

I asked for the extra pass of the laser, and know that long-term the extra downtime will be worth it, but having it done 1 week before my birthday was NOT a genius move. Oh well. At this point, I estimate the downtime will end up being around 2 weeks. Laser treatments help erase wrinkles, tighten the skin, even out skin tone, and also stimulate collagen, so I can expect to see improvements for up to 6 months.

I will post another update when the peeling subsides and I’m able to wear liquid foundation.

A warning about lasers and fillers:  If you use dermal fillers, get them done AFER laser skin resurfacing.  Although lasers and fillers work well in combination to combat the signs of aging, fillers are best injected 2-3 weeks post-laser treatment to maximize longevity.
